Helen's Hill Estate vineyard is situated on the South Ranges of the reknowned Yarra Valley. Named after the late previous owner, Helen's Hill commands some of the finest views of the valley and there's solace taken that her spirit remains around the property, especially on her favourite hill.
The vineyard is owned and operated by the McIntosh and Nalder families, both of which have been farming land for over 3 generations. This intimate knowledge of what is required in nurturing the land,is essential to growing great fruit and we all know great wines are made in the vineyard.
The vineyard(approximately 150 acres) was carefully planned. By way of example, specific varieties planted in specific areas, some vines planted close together, extensive soil testing, water sensors installed throughtout the vineyard to name just a few. All of the plans had one focus,match the site to the plant requirements to ensure we can grow the best fruit.
The vineyard has been gently developed from initially growing fruit for other wineries, to our own boutique winery and finally into a major Yarra Valley food and wine destination. Despite these developements we are still a family owned and operated vineyard. As a guest you'll likely share the winding drive that leads to the new restaurant and cellar door with a tractor or our four-legged workers, Brutus, Caesar and Max.
And so it is that we have a plan, a direction. Dedication and patience are familiar friends on our road. We have waited patiently for many years, and we now present to you a stable of premium, 100% estate-grown, Yarra Valley wines…
