It might look a bit different to an operating theatre, but managing the cellar door at Helen’s Hill uses Jeanette De Silva’s skills perfectly.

Born on the family’s wheat farm in the Mallee, Jeanette (daughter of Roma and Lewis Nalder) studied nursing, later becoming a theatre nurse, specialising in orthopaedics.

While living overseas for some 18 years, Jeanette continued nursing, but also fitted in some time at a marketing company. Quite the perfect combination now she’s back in Australia and joined the family winery operation.

Jeanette shares the “serpent and cross”, the international symbol for medicine, on the crest.
