Helen's Hill 2024 'Candlebark' Pinot Gris

Grown on the cool, low-lying Candlebark Block, lined with majestic old eucalyptus trees, our 2024 Pinot Gris reflects the vintage’s cooler conditions. This year’s wine is a little crisper than previous releases, showing a vibrant energy while still carrying the smooth, textural qualities we love.

The nose is bright and inviting, full of baked pear and honeysuckle, with a gentle floral lift. On the palate, the fruit is lively and clean – think fresh pear and apple – with a subtle touch of oak adding a hint of creaminess underneath. It’s fresh and zippy now but has the potential to soften and gain complexity with a little time in the cellar.

Pair this with a Thai seafood salad, grilled scallops, or a mild creamy cheese. It’s also spot-on with a light chicken risotto, crunchy apple, and walnut salad. Crisp, fresh, and seriously moreish.

Our 2024 Pinot Gris walks the fine line between crisp refreshment and textural indulgence. Golden straw in colour with a gentle grey tint, it opens with aromas of ripe pear, lemon sherbet, and a hint of honeyed apple. The palate is layered and luscious — a soft mouthfeel framed by bright acidity and notes of yellow peach, pear skin, and citrus zest. It’s both playful and poised; the perfect companion for long lunches, laughter, and anything that comes with good company.

Sourced from our Candlebark Block, where vines grow beside giant Candlebark eucalypts, this Pinot Gris was hand-picked at full flavour ripeness. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed to maintain delicacy, then fermented slowly in oak barrels for nine months to build richness and texture. Lees stirring added depth and a silky mouthfeel, balancing the vibrant acidity that defines the 2024 vintage. The result — a wine that marries freshness with finesse.

Think Thai seafood salad, creamy pasta with scallops, or a simple cheese platter with camembert and pear. It’s the ultimate “anytime” white — equally at home beside a summer lunch, a sunset barbecue, or a midweek takeaway that deserves an upgrade.
