The 2025 Breachley Block Chardonnay captures the generous nature of a warmer Yarra Valley growing season, showcasing a more rounded and expressive fruit profile from the Breachley Block’s 40-year-old vines. This vintage leans into ripe stone fruit and citrus flesh, with notes of yellow peach, nectarine and lemon curd unfolding through the palate.
Carefully timed picking has preserved freshness and tension, delivering beautifully balanced natural acidity that keeps the wine poised and precise. Eleven months maturing in French oak brings depth and harmony, layering subtle spice and gentle creaminess around the fruit without overwhelming it.
The result is a confident, textural Chardonnay that reflects vintage warmth while staying true to the elegance and balance that define Breachley Block. Ideal alongside creamy seafood dishes, roast chicken or soft cheeses, the 2025 vintage drinks superbly now and will continue to develop gracefully through to 2034.
The 2025 Breachley Block Chardonnay opens with aromas of white peach, nectarine, and citrus blossom, underscored by subtle notes of vanilla and toasted hazelnut. The palate is textural and creamy, lifted by bright acidity that gives structure and drive. Flavours of lemon curd, stone fruit, and a whisper of oak flow seamlessly into a long, elegant finish. Sophisticated yet effortless — this is Chardonnay at its most assured.
Crafted from vines planted more than four decades ago in our Breachley Block, these old vines yield fruit of exceptional concentration and balance. Hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, the juice was wild-fermented in French oak barrels and matured on lees for nine months to enhance texture and complexity. Regular bâtonnage brought a gentle creaminess to the mid-palate, while careful oak selection ensured that fruit purity remains at the forefront — a hallmark of the Helen’s Hill style.
Pair this Chardonnay with creamy camembert, pasta marinara, or butter-poached crayfish for something special. It’s equally at home alongside roast chicken with lemon and thyme or a lazy Sunday cheese board. Whatever the setting, it’s a wine that rewards slow moments and good conversation.
