Helen's Hill 2024 'Long Walk' Pinot Noir

The 2024 vintage of Long Walk Pinot Noir continues to honour the distinctive character of the Yarra Valley, offering lifted aromatics of wild strawberry, raspberry, and a touch of clove. Compared to the 2023, this release shows greater structure and depth, reflecting the slightly cooler and longer ripening conditions of the vintage. The palate is medium-bodied but more assertive, with layers of red cherry, cranberry, and fine savoury spice, supported by firmer yet polished tannins. Hints of dried herbs and forest floor add complexity, while bright acidity carries through to a long, focused finish. While drinking beautifully now, the 2024 vintage has the framework to reward cellaring over the next 6–8 years. Ideal pairings include roast duck, mushroom risotto, or  grilled salmon.

Vibrant ruby in colour, the 2024 Long Walk opens with aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and a touch of spice. The palate shows juicy red fruits — raspberry and cranberry — framed by fine tannins and subtle oak spice. Eleven months in French oak (30% new) adds lift, texture, and a gentle savoury edge, while the finish glides long and silky with hints of red fruit and earth. It’s refined yet generous — the kind of Pinot that walks its own path.

Sourced from the finest rows of a block known affectionately as “the long walk,” where each row stretches an impressive 540 metres. Fruit was harvested and lightly crushed into open top fermenters and fermented in small batches to preserve freshness and aromatics. The wine matured for 11 months in French oak barriques, 30% of which were new, adding structure and a whisper of spice. The result is a bright, perfumed Pinot Noir that marries purity of fruit with graceful complexity.

Perfect with red-sauce pasta dishes, mushroom risotto, or prosciutto pizza. It also shines beside roast duck or chargrilled vegetables. Whether you’re enjoying it over dinner with friends or after a long day’s work in the vines, it’s a wine that rewards those willing to go the distance.
