The Helen's Hill 2023 Project 943 Single Clone Pinot Noir marks an exciting milestone as the first production of this unique 943 clone in Victoria. Originally gaining a devoted following in the cool-climate regions of the United States, this clone thrives in our Yarra Valley vineyard.
The 2023 Yarra Valley vintage brought cooler nights and a long, steady ripening season, allowing the 943 clone to shine with clarity and precision. This year’s release feels a little more refined than the 2022 — vibrant, aromatic, and beautifully balanced.
The nose opens with wild raspberry, redcurrant, and a touch of rose petal. On the palate, bright red cherry and cranberry meet gentle savoury notes of dried herbs and forest floor. The tannins are fine and chalky, carrying the wine into a long, clean finish with subtle spice and earth.
Food pairings: porcini gnocchi, duck breast with cherry glaze, herbed roast chicken, or a relaxed charcuterie spread.
