Helen's Hill 2022 'Cambrian' Heathcote Shiraz

Sourced from vines planted on the famous Cambrian soils of the Heathcote region. This Shiraz displays the full benefit of these soils, the warm climate and generous new oak through its ageing process.

Full-bodied, with aromas of plums and black pepper and rich black and red fruit characteristics with hints of pepper and spice from the well-integrated oak.

Perfect for matching with lamb or beef cooked on the grill.

In the glass, it’s a deep garnet with a hint of purple at the rim. The nose sings with plum, black cherry, and hints of dark chocolate, edged by cracked black pepper and cedar from oak. On the palate, rich dark fruits — blackberry, damson — unfold in waves, with underlying spice, slatey mineral tones, and a refined savoury note. The tannins are firm yet polished, oak adds lift and structure, and the finish is long, resonant and energetic.

Sourced entirely from vines rooted in Cambrian soils, the 2022 Shiraz captures both warmth and minerality in equal measure. After fermentation, the wine is matured in French oak — a mix of new and seasoned — allowing expression of fruit while integrating depth and nuance. This careful oak regime supports structure and complexity without overshadowing the vineyard’s voice.

This is a wine made for robust fare: think char-grilled ribeye, pepper-crusted sirloin, or slow-roasted lamb with rosemary and garlic. It also plays beautifully with smoky eggplant, a mushroom ragù, or aged cheeses like cheddar or gouda. Take it to your long-table dinners, your fireside feasts, and your feast-with-friends moments — it will step up without needing the spotlight.
