Roma’s Grace is one of those wines.

Named for Roma Grace Nalder, the matriarch of our family, this traditional method sparkling is a tribute not only to a remarkable woman, but to the spirit that helped shape Helen’s Hill from the very beginning. Alongside her late husband Lewis, Roma was a founding partner of Helen’s Hill, building this venture together with her daughter Robyn and son Allan when the Romas and Lewis made the move from broadacre farming in Metian, just outside Swan Hill, to the Yarra Valley. 

Before Helen’s Hill, Roma and Lewis spent much of their life on the land, farming wheat and other grains in northern Victoria. It was a life shaped by hard work, resilience and patience — the kind of life that teaches you to respect seasons, trust time, and understand that the best things are rarely rushed. Those same values came with them to the Yarra Valley, and remain woven into the fabric of Helen’s Hill today.

Roma has always carried herself with a quiet grace. Warm, steady, generous and unassuming, she represents a way of being that has influenced our family and this estate in equal measure. Naming this wine after her was never simply about recognition — it was about creating something worthy of her name.

Our Roma’s Grace traditional method sparkling reflects that spirit beautifully. With 42 months ageing on lees, this is a wine that has been given the time it needs to find its shape and character. That extended maturation brings layers of complexity, texture and poise, resulting in a sparkling wine of elegance and depth.
