Helen's Hill 2024 Breachley Block Chardonnay

The 2024 Breachley Block Chardonnay exemplifies the distinctive elegance of Helen's Hill, crafted from the 40-year-old vines of the renowned Breachley Block. This vintage offers a fresher, brighter expression, with vibrant acidity taking centre stage, highlighting citrus, green apple, and white peach notes. While still maintaining the wine's signature creamy mid-palate, this year's release is lighter and more refreshing, with the lively acidity enhancing its focus and precision. Subtle oak integration adds a gentle complexity without detracting from the fruit's freshness. Perfectly suited to pair with creamy cheese, camembert, or seafood risotto, the 2024 vintage will evolve beautifully, drinking well now and cellaring until 2033.

The 2024 Breachley Block Chardonnay opens with aromas of white peach, nectarine, and citrus blossom, underscored by subtle notes of vanilla and toasted hazelnut. The palate is textural and creamy, lifted by bright acidity that gives structure and drive. Flavours of lemon curd, stone fruit, and a whisper of oak flow seamlessly into a long, elegant finish. Sophisticated yet effortless — this is Chardonnay at its most assured.

Crafted from vines planted more than four decades ago in our Breachley Block, these old vines yield fruit of exceptional concentration and balance. Hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, the juice was wild-fermented in French oak barrels and matured on lees for nine months to enhance texture and complexity. Regular bâtonnage brought a gentle creaminess to the mid-palate, while careful oak selection ensured that fruit purity remains at the forefront — a hallmark of the Helen’s Hill style.

Pair this Chardonnay with creamy camembert, pasta marinara, or butter-poached crayfish for something special. It’s equally at home alongside roast chicken with lemon and thyme or a lazy Sunday cheese board. Whatever the setting, it’s a wine that rewards slow moments and good conversation.
